Fortyulifa (read FO – CU – LIFA) Agencies brings together agricultural sector value chain players to a common forum, for mutual benefit hence enhancement and advancement of entrepreneurship, for a self-sustaining agricultural ecosystem in Uganda, East Africa.
Agricultural productivity is far below its potential including for key smallholder staple foods such as beans, coffee, maize and potatoes. This severely impacts the livelihoods of the rural populace. A pivotal cause is lack of access to modern technologies, notably farm equipment and machinery and their service network. Also, poor rural production and transport infrastructure (rural access roads and bridges, livestock watering points are degraded, and the risks of climate change limit the optimal use of the natural resource base. Therefore, the poor performance of the agricultural sector in Uganda, amidst various interventions by government and development partners, occasioned the founding of Fortyulifa.
To build the capacity of farmers and value chain actors to work together to produce more volumes, bulking for better price negotiation, and hence general agribusiness entrepreneurship development, to the growing of their wealth.
